She graduated in piano and composition with highest honours and, when she was 26 years old, in conducting (10/10 cum laude) at the “N. Piccinni” Music Conservatory in Italy. She subsequently was awarded the diploma of honour at the Accademia Chiagiana in Siena during the specialising course led by the Russian conductor Yuri Ahronovitch. He wrote about Gianna “I’ve never known a musician so gifted with heart and arms”. She started her career as pianist winning a lot of international piano competitions and playing both in Italy and abroad. As pianist or conductor she performs in a lot of cities (New York, London, Sidney, Seoul, Barcellona, Istanbul, Berlin, Stoccolma, Vilnius, Roma, Milano, Bruxelles, Besancon, Tirana, Budapest, Haifa, Lion, Belgrade, Mumbay, Kolkatta, Prague, Nancy, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Dubuque ecc.) in theatre such as Carnegie Hall of New York, Teatro Coliseo of Buenos Aires, Teatro Solis of Montevideo, Seoul Art Center, Smetana Hall of Prague,
Teatro Sao Pedro of Sao Paulo, Teatro dell’Opera of Rome and many others all over the world. She collaborates with many artists like Martha Argerich, Mirella Freni, Carla Fracci, Renato Bruson, Daniele Abbado, Raina Kabaiwanska, François Thiollier, Cecilia Gasdia, Cloe Hanslip, Dino De Palma. She records for Sony, Arcana, Velut Luna, Amadeus, Bongiovanni, Mondadori, Classica HD both as pianist and conductor. Graduated in law, she is a professor of composition in the “U. Giordano” Music Conservatory of Foggia; she was visiting professor in Sunghshin women’s university in Seoul (South Korea), and she did many master classes in many universities in the world (Bocconi in Milan, Notre Dame University in Lebanon, University of Montevideo – Uruguay, ecc). On 7th March 2009 the President of Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano gave her the prize “In honour of merit” for her international career attributing to her the honour of Knight of the Italian Republic.
