Jenő Puporka was born in Budapest on July 30, 2001.
In 2014, he applied for the nationwide talent competition “Virtuosos.” Thanks to his successful participation, he received a series of concert invitations. During this period, he began performing as a soloist with orchestral accompaniment.

His first full-length solo concert with orchestra took place in 2016 at the Óbuda Társaskör. In the same year, he began his studies at the Bartók Béla Conservatory under the guidance of István Lukácsházi. As a first-year student, he received the Lajos Montág Memorial Award based on audience votes, and that same year he also won 1st prize at the VI National Double Bass Competition.

In 2017, he won 1st prize at the Carl Dittersdorf International Double Bass Competition in Banská Bystrica. In 2018, he achieved absolute 1st prize at the Danubia Talents International Competition. In 2019, he competed again in the VII National Double Bass Competition, this time in another age category, where he once again won 1st prize and also received the special award for “Best Orchestral Excerpt Performance.” He played as section leader in Tamás Vásáry’s Youth Orchestra and also took part as section leader in the Virtuosos Chamber Orchestra conducted by Plácido Domingo.

In 2020, he was admitted to the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music as a student of Zsolt Fejérvári. Since 2021, he has been a regular guest at the Festival Academy events organized by Barnabás Kelemen and Katalin Kokas.

At the 1st Tibay Zoltán Double Bass Competition in 2022, he won 1st prize as well as the Tibay Special Award. Since 2022, he has been a regular performer at concerts of the Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra.

In 2023, he earned his BA degree in Classical Double Bass Performance at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. That same year, he was invited to the International Carl Flesch Academy to attend Janne Saksala’s masterclass, where he performed a solo concert with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra and received a Pirastro Scholarship. Also in 2023, he was admitted to the Master’s program in Double Bass at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, and appeared as a soloist with orchestra at the Pesti Vigadó under the baton of Gergely Ménesi.

In 2024, he was invited to perform with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, playing at several concerts both in Hungary and abroad. That year, he also won 1st prize at the 2nd International Tibay Zoltán Double Bass Competition and received the special award for the best performance of a Beethoven orchestral work.

In 2024, he became one of the winners of the European Orchestra Academy, the joint scholarship program of the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Budapest Festival Orchestra.

In 2025, he received the Cziffra Festival Talent Award in recognition of his outstanding individual achievements in the field of music.
