Marc Laforet


Born in Paris in 1965, Marc Laforet gave his first recital at the age of 8 at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.

He graduated from the Conservatoire de Boulogne-Billancourt, which was followed by the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in the class of Professor Pierre SANCAN, where he received unanimously first prize, which was followed by master classes given by world wide international musicians.

Marc Laforet had the great privilege of being personally teached by Maestro Arthur Rubinstein who gave him the warmest encouragements.

He received the gold medal of Georgy Cziffra and Yehudi Menuhin Foundations.

New York 1985: Marc Laforet wins:“Young Concert Artists International Auditions”.

Warsaw 1985: Marc Laforet wins: Silver Medal of the XIth International Frederic Chopin competition in Warsaw, and the prize of Mazurkas, Prize of the public, Prize of Polish Radio-Television.

Ever since, Marc Laforet’s career’s became international and he is regularly invited by prestigious orchestras among which: Orchestre de Paris, la Scala di Milano, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, La Haye, Zurich, Suisse Romande, Tokyo Philharmonic, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony, Warsaw Philharmonia, Leipzig, Saint-Petersburg, Orchestre National de France, Symphonic Euskadi, Philharmonique de Radio-France, Monte-Carlo, Prague, Berlin Symphony Orchestra,Shangai Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lille…

With prestigious conductors as : Daniel Barenboim, Valery Gergiev, Eliahu Inbal, Georges Prêtre, Klaus-Peter Flor, Rudolf Barshai, Vassili Sinaïski, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Serge Baudo, Alain Lombard, Kasimierz Kord, Jan Latham-Koenig, Arie Van Beck, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Antoni Wit, Jean-Claude Casadesus…

He performs recitals in Paris, New York, Washington, Moscow, Tokyo, Osaka, Shangai, Berlin, St-Petersburg, Munich, Vienna, Milano, Roma, London, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Stockholm…


Marc Laforet’s talent had great recognition through his recordings, among which the two Chopin Concerti with the “London Philharmonia” conducted by Maestro Rudolf Barshai (EMI), the 24 Chopin Preludes and Sonata N°3 (Berlin Classics). A CD of complete set of Chopin Waltzes (Arion) received the most enthusiastic press releases.

He recorded a CD and DVD dedicated to Frederic Chopin in which he performed the two Concerti with Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maestro Kazimierz Kord (Maxell)

Known as an outstanding specialist of Frederic Chopin he was privileged to play in the composer’s house, place Vendôme in Paris on October 17th 1999, the very night of the composer’s 150th death anniversary.

He takes great pleasure to play chamber music with partners such as Renaud Capuçon, Vladimir Spivakov, Sergei Krylov, Henri Demarquette, Gautier Capuçon, Modigliani Quartet…

His recent performances include recitals at the prestigious « La Roque-d’Anthéron » festival, the « Folle Journée de Tokyo », the « Folle Journée de Nantes », the Warsaw Philharmonic in the series « Before the Great Competition » …

Since July 2003, Marc Laforet is the founder and Artistic Director of the Music Festival “Les Grands Crus Musicaux”, which takes place every July, in prestigious Wine Castles around Bordeaux in France.

He is since last year artistic advisor to the «Cziffra Foundation» in Senlis.

The “Del Duca Foundation” associated to the “Académie des Beaux-Arts” awarded Marc Laforet the first Grand Prize for Musical Interpretation.
