Sébastien Pellet
Sébastien Pellet started studying piano at the age of 6 at the Béla Bartók Music School in Vác with Mariann Jámborné Skripeczky. Between 2014 and 2018 he was a student of Gábor Monostori at the King St Stephen Secondary School of Music Art. In 2018, he was admitted to the Music Academy of Budapest in first place, where his teachers were András Kemenes and Attila Némethy. He began his Master’s studies at the Hochschule für Musik Basel in September 2021 in the class of Zoltán Fejérvári.
He won several prizes at national and international competitions. He was awarded 3rd place at the 2011 Vienna International Piano Competition, 2nd place at the 2015 and 2018 Békéscsaba National Piano Competitions, the award of ’Best Hungarian Participant’ at the 4th International Chopin Piano Competition in Budapest, 3rd place at the Milan International Piano Competition, 1st place in the 2017 National Harpsichord Competition of Hungary. In 2021, he won first prize in two categories at the International Los Angeles Liszt Competition, in addition to the American Liszt Society Special Prize and the Special Prize for Best Performance.
In Hungary, he has performed in most major concert halls, making his debut in March 2020 at the Great Hall of the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest with the Piano Concerto in E flat major of Franz Liszt, and in May 2021 at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall of the ’MÜPA’ during the Bartók Spring International Arts Weeks. He has also performed several times at the Márványterem of Hungarian Radio, most recently with a full evening Liszt concert broadcast in February 2022. In 2022, he was one of the winners of a competition at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, which led to a performance in June at Basel’s most prestigious concert hall, the Stadtcasino, with the Sinfonieorchester Basel. In 2022, he won the Zoltán Kocsis Award, founded by the Kocsis-Hauser Foundation, in the piano category.
