Szabolcs Péter Horváth
Szabolcs Péter Horváth began playing the piano at the age of 3. He studied classical piano under Csaba Magyar at the School for the Blind and later, from sixth grade, also studied jazz piano with Bence Molnár. After completing elementary school, he was accepted into the Bartók Béla Conservatory in 2018, majoring in jazz piano, where his main teachers included Máté Pozsár, Áron Tálas, Richárd Révész, Gábor Cseke, and Krisztián Oláh.
In 2019, he received a special award in the jazz piano category at the 4th National Jazz Music Competition, along with an opportunity to perform with Mihály Borbély. He participated in the Bodajk Jazz Camp in 2020, 2021, and 2022. In 2022, at the 5th National Jazz Music Competition, he won first place in the jazz piano category, both with the band Jazzpince and as a soloist. He also received the first prize for Best Composition with his piece “Zuzmó”.
Since 2022, he has been a student at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, where his main instructor is Dr. Károly Binder. In 2023, he won first place in the “Creativ Art” improvisation competition, founded by György Vukán. In same year, he was awarded the Talentum Hungaricum scholarship, his mentor is Kristóf Bacsó. In 2024, he received the “Jazz Talent of the Year” professional award.
